Salvador Castro of Levittown, Pennsylvania entered military service with the United States Army in 1943. He served as an automatic rifleman in Company E, 126th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division from 1944 to 1945 as a Private First Class and later as Technician 5th Grade following a promotion. Castro joined Company E on New Guinea and later would land and fight on Leyte, where he was wounded by grenade shrapnel. Mr. Castro passed away on September 23rd, 2023 at the age of 98. May he rest in eternal peace.
